Heliophilia: An attraction or adaption to the sunlight.
this is a root of my identity. i focus on the feeling of radiance of the  sun and capture that feeling into a tangible moment of observation.  The light is a tool for me to harness and direct the eye of a persons view to what i'm observing. To me, what is truly divine is the present. The present is infinite, the ultimate reciprocal.

                                                                                                                                      an ongoing photo journal

My observation of the world I grow up in,. Documenting what I process and have taken notice to. Traveling abroad, digging beyond our surface level textbooks we're given in school and in media, there is so much more, and so much we're not as well. This has always made me curious of so many ways of seeing life. America the beautiful exists, you just had to find it. You have to be able enough to break free of the ideas we're born into here. A world that exists is what we make of the present if given the tools. What's beyond for all of us?

                                                                                                                  photo project

This is the first time I feel I've taken on the intimate and overwhelming idea of communicating a personal story of my selective mutism. Diagnosed at age 6, I only talked to my two brothers, mom & dad. I was so unconscious of how it would effect me in the following years socially. I wanted to document my earlier experiences before I went further on with it, this is only one of many stages I will be sharing. I developed a different way to communicate, and in turn it helped me understand my emotions more introspectively at such a young age.

rods and cones. (2021)
a short film/photo project - directed and scored by Ethan Edward

This experience all formed in one moment with my friend Osiris. Osiris and I are always enamo
red with light and the sun. We were observing the way the sunlight was painting a beautiful silhouette of the trees moving in the wind on a wall. Minutes later I started walking away, telling him we had to leave, i saw something in his glasses. In that genuine moment, i saw Osiris's perspective, and got to feel what he witnessed in that moment.

This is a story of observation. When we slow time down, the truth comes flooding back to us.
This truth is the inner child.

flight, freedom, curiosity.

" the black hole " (2021)
Written and Directed by Ethan Edward
Director of Photography - Victor Collins

an observation of human communication. an era of saturated certainties and opinions, we all              exist with  what we each know, which we define as our own version of "the truth."

"the fire next time (2021)

Directed and Choreographed by Elbert Watson, this adaption required my eye to study a historical memoir of James Baldwin's perspective in the novel, "the fire next time." An immensely revealing story of perspective, James challenged me and my identity through his readings. I found many of his takes on life are aligned with mine but formed on a different context for the both of us.

"flyboy" (2019)

Icarus. A boy who flew too close to the sun and burned his wings. A story of father and son. American culture has molded it's history on the basis of separation and growth simultaneously. When those two ideas meet, something in the questions i raised in my mind were off.

the innocence of a child to some in this world may be more threatening than others.
